Some thoughts about Black Lightning: Cold Dead Hands #2

Black Lightning's name has been tarnished.

Jefferson is being accused of a crime he didn't commited and now he will have to deal with the whole police force.

This story continues and does it in an interesting way.

Tony Isabella offers a new chapter where he expands on the ramifications from the last one with Black Lightning running from the law after he apparently killed a bunch of criminals. Once again, the social commentary is pretty relevant in this book due to how the cops tend to treat black people different. Mind you, Isabella actually tries to offer a bit more complexity than the usual complaints about the police and that works for the better since it presents a more realistic scenario.

The plot itself is not that interesting though since we already know who is the true culprit of the recent murders and is just a big investigation to find the obvious. The focus mostly goes to the characterization and that is still solid thanks to the appropriate portrayals and natural dialogue.

Clayton Henry handles the artwork, is quite good looking overall thanks to his expressive characters and semi-cartoony style.

Enjoyable overall, hope the plot is deeper next time though.
