Some thoughts about All-Star Batman #14

Who is the first ally?

Bruce will have to help Alfred defeat one of his oldest enemies and maybe this will make them realize what is the most important thing in their lives.

This story concludes in a pretty satisfying way.

Scott Snyder brings the final chapter by developing some of the classic aspects that he introduced since the beginning of his work in Batman. People who are familiar with Snyder's whole run know how important the relationship between Alfred and Bruce has been and this issue perfectly shows the strong connection that both characters had based on their backgrounds and childhoods. Other Snyder ideas like Alfred's father (who has also been present since the beginning of his work) and how he shaped his son's life receive an appropriate resolution.

The character work is another strong point thanks to emotional moments the writer creates for the whole cast. The villain is not particularly interesting but gets the job done since he makes all the other moments possible.

Rafael Albuquerque handles the artwork and is pretty fitting for the story thanks to his dark and distinctive style.

There's another segment written by Albuquerque and Rafael Scavone where they conclude their little story and was okay with decent moments but nothing great and I don't see it continuing elsewhere. Sebastian Fiumara's artwork is pretty great though with a quite expressive and detailed style that gets the best from the script.

Solid finale, shame that the book is over.
