Some thoughts about Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #9

The Birds of Prey's new enemy is more dangerous than they thought.

Black Bird has been raising metahumans only to absorb their powers once that they mature and is up to Dinah to show everyone who she really is.

First of all, I really adore that variant cover.

Second, this was decent but it had a few flaws.

Julie and Shawna Benson deliver a new chapter mostly focusing on Dinah and how she has to fight her way to the truth about Black Bird. The character work is solid enough with Dinah proving how flexible in terms of personality she can be due that she has to adapt to different situation being either in terms of fighting or acting to learn more about her enemy's secrets. That segment is enjoyable at least.

The problem is the dialogue, is pretty heavyhanded at times due that the characters, particularly Dinah, tend to say more than they should leaving very little to the imagination. The fact that they use thought balloons don't help matters since they don't improve the narration at all.

Roge Antonio does a good job in art duties thanks to his clean and expressive style.

Not the best chapter but still readable.
