Some thoughts about Harley Quinn #8

Harley and Ivy are on a vacation that might not go as well as they planned.

Harley can stand being on an island full of nude people as long as she stays with the person she loves. However, she will soon realize the good times can't last forever.

For an issue that started as the usual pure fun, it actually became more complex than one would expect.

Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner offer a new installment with the usual Harley Quinn fun which includes nudity, making fun of the most abstract forms of that nudity and the classic jokes that you would expect from the character.

Nonetheless, the best aspect of the story comes from the focus on Harley's relationships. There's a little segment about the typical problematic romance with the Joker which offers some compelling points about its nature while the interactions with Ivy showcase how different and healthier that particular relationship is ultimately creating a much deeper exploration of both characters and showing how complicated their romance is.

Chad Hardin, Andrew Robinson and Bret Blevins handle the artwork and their respective segments are really well-done following the usual cartoony style from the book while other scenes like the flashback segments follow a much darker tone.

Great stuff, easily one of the best issues recently.
