Some thoughts about Sixpack/Dogwelder: Hard-Travelin' Heroz #3

The greatest heroz of the world will have to deal with their greatest challenges.

Dogwelder is trying to reunite with his family but is not going to be easy after what happened. Sixpack on the other hand, has other adventures in mind.

Yeah, this is as hilarious as expected.

Garth Ennis returns with yet another hysterical issue where he continues to mock everything from the superhero genre to the current state of Constantine and all of it is glorious. The character work is surprisingly solid though with Dogwelder becoming more self-aware about his conditing while trying to recuperate his family and Sixpack dealing with the events of the last series All-Star Section Eight.

However, the best part is the humour, particularly when Ennis makes fun of Constantine and how ridiculous he is now. Again, I don't mind what happened during the New 52 with John but the parody is still on-point with the character constantly mentioning how he used to be somebody, how adventures in piramids are not his thing, he takes himself too seriously in that sense and that might even be part of the joke as well. Ennis definitely gets the character but is not afraid of ridiculizing him either.

Russ Braun remains on pencils and his work is still perfect for Ennis' script thanks to his ability to create a great range of character expressions with a quite clean style that captures the humour nicely.

The funniest read of the week by far, it made my day.
