Some thoughts about He-Man/Thundercats #1

The universe is in danger.

Mumm-Ra is tired of losing against the Thundercats and is decided to find an even more powerful weapon than the Sword of Omens even if it takes him to another dimension.

The crossover that nobody was expecting is finally here. Both properties from the 80's and both with their different yet similar premises, is a surprise that these two franchises have never interacted so is this a great return to fans of such series?

Weeeeell, is okay at the very least.

Written by Rob David and Lloyd Goldfine, the story takes place in both realities where the Masters of Universe and Thundercats reside. The premise unfortunately is not that creative nor interesting, is the usual crossover stuff about a villain wanting more power and going to another reality to find it (which is more common than you would expect) and sadly the writers don't exploit it to the point where it actually becomes compelling.

The voices for the characters are on-point but once again, they don't offer anything particularly surprising about their personalities nor give them more depth, is pretty much what you would expect from them but not with enough wit to put the characterization above average.

Freddie Williams II proves to be the best part of the issue thanks to a pretty distinctive artstyle which can be really abstract at times but is still good looking.

Not the best beginning and doesn't make really invested in the future. Probably won't read more.
