Some thoughts about Detective Comics #943

How does the team react after the death of Tim Drake?

Stephanie is suffering after her boyfriend is gone while Bruce and Kate are trying to decide what their next step will be which will be especially hard once that the Victim Syndicate strikes.

Just like with most other titles from the line, is good to have it back after the crossover.

James Tynion IV offers a new chapter where he plays immediately with the ramifications of his own story about how the team deals with Tim's disappearance and how it affects each one of them in their own way. Just like in Nightwing, this kind of direction brings a good sense of continuity for old readers and doesn't waste any time with some of the most useless parts from Night of the Monster Men.

The characterization is pretty solid for the most part. Bruce and Kate act in the logical way while the scenes with Stephanie continue to feel real (although I still didn't find her relationship with Tim particularly strong here), even characters like Harper Row receive some decent moments. I have a few problems about how Luke Fox was portrayed though, much more egocentric and vain than usual which is pretty odd considering how he appeared previously in his own series.

Alvaro Martinez begins his art duties here and his work is quite strong with beautiful characters and solid storytelling.

Enjoyable overall, hope to see more like this in the future.
