Some thoughts about Supergirl #1

How can Supergirl adapt to Earth?

Nothing has been easy for Kara since her arrival but she will need to find a way to get used to her new parents, friends and overall lifestyle to help the world.

The Rebirth issue was solid but this people, this is simply great.

Steve Orlando offers this initial chapter where he does a similar job as Grant Morrison during All-Star Superman by telling you exactly what you need to know about the character in a single page and it works wonderfully. What follows is setting-up her new role in this world along with other students, her boss, her rivals and the upcoming threat of Cyborg Superman which is something that has been teased for a while.

Orlando explores several aspects from Kara's character like the classic immigrant nature of Kryptonian people and how they can feel isolated from the rest in a different place. She is immediately understandable and her conflicts and motivations are presented in a quite logical manner.

Brian Ching handles the artwork and is really beautiful with a more cartoony style compared to Emanuella Luppachino's but still pretty solid at depicting expressions and action scenes with a vibrant tone.

Quite enjoyable. Yet another book to pay attention to.
